Cub Motto and Promise

Cub Scout Motto:  "Do Your Best"
Cub Scouts are expected to do their best in all that they do.  Each rank has certain requirements to earn their badges.  As leaders, we do not expect the scout to be able to carry out each task to perfection.  All that we ask is that the scout do their individual best while working on achievements.  Scouts are not compared to others in the group.

Cub Scout Promise:

I promise to do my best,
To do my duty to God and my country,
to help other people, and
to obey the Law of the Pack
.

Meaning of Cub Scout Promise:

I Promise:

A promise means that you do your best to keep your word.
Scouts must keep the promises they make so that others will trust you.

To Do My Best:
Doing your best means working hard to achieve your maximum potential.
It means giving 100% to each activity and achievement that you do.

To Do My Duty to God:

Doing your duty to God means living in a way that is moral and right.
Scouts should practice their religion at home and do their scouting activities with the values their religion teaches.
All scouts should respect the beliefs of others even if they do not agree.

And To My Country:
Doing your duty to your country means being a good citizen.
Scouts should respect their community, work to better their environment, and be patriotic.

To Help Other People:

Helping other people means the scout should look for ways to do things for others without having to be asked.

And To Obey The Law Of The Pack:

Obeying the Law of the Pack means abiding by the scouting Law and listening and respecting your leaders.
Scouts are expected to be on their best behavior during den and Pack meetings.

Law of the Pack

The Law of the Pack
The Cub Scout follows Akela,
The Cub Scout helps the Pack go.
The Pack helps the Cub Scout grow.
The Cub Scout gives goodwill.

The Cub Scout Follows Akela:
Akela means "good leader".
Akela can be your Cubmaster, den leader, family member, community member, etc.
Scouts should choose a good Akela or Akelas to learn from.

The Cub Scout Helps The Pack Go:
Scouts help the pack go by being active members in their dens and packs.
Scouts should follow the rules, listen to Akela, attend meeting, and participate in community activities.
Scouts should always do their part and help others in the Pack meet their goals.

The Pack Helps The Cub Scout Grow:

Being a part of a Cub Scout Pack will help the scout grow into a good citizen.
The leaders, parents, and other scouts will help you learn new and interesting things.
You will be able to have many positive experiences in Cub Scouting.

The Cub Scout Gives Goodwill:

The Cub Scouts do good for their community and for other people.
Scouts should be positive and helpful to others.
Scouts should spread goodwill by helping others and influencing them to pass on the favor.
